Creative huh?

So.  I've been thinking for quite some time, actually, about the audacity of claiming creativity. And then recently a friend lent me a book..."Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert and although I haven't finished it yet, it's resonating... like, seriously.  I feel like I've been saying this for some time but somehow she just says it better.

"Are you considering becoming a creative person?  Too late, you already are one.  To even call somebody "a creative person" is almost laughably redundant; creativity is the hallmark of our species.  We have the senses for it; we have curiosity for it; we have the opposable thumbs for it; we have the rhythm for it; we have the language and excitement and innate connection to divinity for it.  If you're alive, you're a creative person....The guardians of high culture will try to convince you that the arts belong only to a chosen few, but they are wrong and they are also annoying.  We are all the chosen few.  We are all makers by design.  Even if you grew up watching cartoons in a sugar stupor from dawn to dusk, creativity still lurks within you."  - Elizabeth Gilbert

I've long said that creativity is the common denominator of mankind.  And yet... there is something to that moment of inspiration that feels very much like touching the essence of Divinity... God Himself.  So there's that.  And of course it's true, no matter what YOU specifically have been designed to be creative in when you hit your stride in that arena you feel that surge of rightness...of being just where you belong, you feel His smile.  It's pretty fun.

Are we being audacious to claim any corner on the creative market here on this website? Maybe.  Not.  We're basically saying, "Hey!  We're just like you!  Pull up a chair and join in the fun!  Oh, and tell us what crazy creative thing you're up to while you're here!"  Will you?
